THE WESTERLY COLLEGE CLUB, INC. 2023 - 2024 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION The Westerly College Club was founded in 1910 to promote fellowship among women in the Westerly area with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, to make worthwhile contributions to the cultural and civic life of the community, and to award scholarships to applicants who meet the criteria established by its members. The Club first offered a Latin prize of fifty dollars following which, in 1944, a permanent scholarship was established. Today the scholar- ships are funded from two sources: The Westerly College Club and the Lois Hamilton Fontaine Scholarship Fund of the Westerly College Club, Inc. The latter, an endowed fund managed by The Rhode Island Foundation, is dedicated to Mrs. Fontaine, a former Latin teacher and outstanding leader of the College Club. The Westerly College Club is accepting applications through May 31, 2023.
